biotope recap: Summer edition 🌞

Dear startup supporter,

It’s been a big season at biotope: from launching our second fund to welcoming new faces and backing more bold biotech startups, momentum is building.

As we keep growing our community and deepening our impact, we’re excited to share what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next.

💸New face, new fund

We’re thrilled to announce the first close of our second fundBiotope Ventures II! We’re also growing internally: say hello to our newest team member Ilana, who’s joining to help us take things up a notch.

🌱 Portfolio expansion

We’ve made three exciting new investments:

  • Landman Bio (BE): Biologicals revolutionizing the control of bacterial crop disease
  • Elaniti (UK): Unlocking the power of soil data for smarter farming
  • AgroGrinTech (PT): Valorising fruit waste by transforming it into clean-label food ingredients

Plus, Basecamp Cohort 7 is in full swing! Teams from around the world are building, refining, and pitching. We wrap it all up at our big Investment Committee on June 26th.

🔥Portfolio highlights

  • PFx Biotech raised their seed round + secured a €2.5M EIC grant
  • AmphiStar signed a strategic partnership with Kensing, bringing their biosurfactants (Amphicare® & Amphiclean®) to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
  • Corium Biotech won the EmpoWomen Grant supporting female-led innovation in biotech.

📢 Help us shape what’s next

We’re launching a bi-annual community survey: your feedback helps us improve how we support founders, funders, and partners alike. It’ll only take a couple of minutes so we would be very grateful if you could take a moment to share your thoughts and help shape the future of biotope.

I want to help!

📍 Where to find us

Let’s connect in person: we’ll be at TechBBQ, EIT Food Next Bite, and Oslo Innovation Week  — where we’re co-hosting AgriTech Nordic with T:lab and Startup Flanders. Come say hi!

That’s it from us for now. We’re heading into summer energized by the momentum — new fund, new faces, and bold new biotech!

Thanks for being part of it. We look forward to reconnecting soon, with fresh ideas, new collaborations, and even more ways to back early-stage biotech founders building for people and planet.
